Cheesecakes are one of my favorite desserts. Every Thanksgiving, I’m always making a cherry-topped one for my family. It take a little time and effort to do it, unless you’re like me, and you just make it out of a box. Call me lazy, but sometimes easy is way less stressful. And as a stay at home mom with 5 kids, I’m okay being less stressed.
There are also times when I need a pick-me-up, and chocolate just won’t cover it. I need something more creamy and flavorful. But I don’t want to spend time making one – I want it now! Kinda makes me feel like Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Which brings me to here and now!
I wanted to do a comparison between a $2.75 cheesecake and a $7.00 cheesecake and see if it’s actually worth it to buy the more expensive brand. I also just wanted cheesecake, so there you have it! #therealtruthcomesout
The Cheesecake Factory Strawberries and Cream Cheesecake slice was $7.00. I tried a sample of it at Hy-Vee last week, and couldn’t help but to get more. For a whole pie, they shared that the price is right around $60! Goodness gracious, I thought. Is that pie also gonna cook me breakfast? $7.00 a slice is pretty expensive, obviously. I’m sure everyone would agree. However, the taste was on-point! All of the flavors came together rather beautifully. If you prefer a rich-flavored cheesecake, you’ll want to snag one of these. The slice was small, but incredibly filling. You could probably get a slice and share it with someone else, despite its’ size. It looks quite fancy, and definitely good for special occasions.
The Walmart Strawberry Swirl and New York Style Cheesecake was $2.75. Individually, the sizes were a little smaller than the Cheesecake Factory cheesecake slice, but combined you get more. Out of both of them, I preferred the New York Style over the Strawberry Swirl. The New York Style had a zesty ting to it, and was only mildly rich. The Strawberry Swirl tasted a bit artificial, like it came out of a can. While it was sweet it didn’t have that creamy flavor to it, like the other two.
All in all, here’s what I think about it:
If I need a quick cheesecake fix, I’ll easily go for the New York Style Cheesecake and save $4.25. My kids would easily devour the Strawberry Swirl, so it wouldn’t go to waste. However, for special occasions, such as my wedding anniversary or Valentine’s Day, I’ll have to splurge for the delicious Cheesecake Factory slice! If you shop at Hy-Vee, be sure to check out their selection of Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes. They have a wide selection to choose from!
